Fort Doyle

Fort DoyleFort Doyle (2001)
A peaceful use of an old fort. A. Gardner, Fountain Street, Guernsey.

"On Fort Doyle, Guernsey, built at the beginning of last century, but since fallen into disuse, a powerful fog-horn has been erected where, in former years, a gun was mounted. This is for use should a breakdown occur with the fog-horn on Platte Fougère lighthouse, more than a mile from the mainland, the latter fog signal being operated electrically from shore by means of a submarine cable."
